“Between Words and Power: A Gender-Aware Data Analysis of Spanish Parliament Transcripts.”

Her research offers a pioneering exploration of how gender inequality is reproduced and transformed in political discourse. By analyzing twenty years of Spanish parliamentary transcripts, Paula combines feminist theory, computational methods and political data science to uncover how women participate, how they are represented and how their voices are heard in parliamentary debate. Her findings show that progress in representation has not fully eliminated subtle asymmetries in political speech, which still influence who takes the floor, how interventions are received and which voices gain symbolic power.

Supervised by Carlos Castillo and Jesús Cerquides, this thesis exemplifies rigorous, socially engaged data science that uses technology to question and transform power structures.
