Research InterestsMy research interests are at the intersection where AI meets social psychology, philosophy, and cognitive sciences. Specifically i look into applying socio-economic and cognitive theories to multiagent systems. I believe, these theories can help AI researchers to design more sophisticated and autonomous agents. Further, sociological and economic theories can help create societies of agents which may be better equipped to solve complex problems using collective intelligence. On the other hand, I believe AI offers very interesting simulation platforms for social scientists, economists and cognitive scientists to derive important insights. My graduate work has focused on the Theory of Coherence. Specifically, it involves proposing a formal model for this theory, and studying its applicability to autonomous reasoning of agents. My work proposes a Coherence framework as a possible alternative to introduce autonomous decision making in agents, specially in the context of normative multiagent systems, where I explain action selection or norm abidance as a process of coherence maximisation. Further, I use the framework to introduce deliberation in a multiagent setting, where a group of agents could deliberate on normative issues or commitments. This, I see as the first steps towards autonomous normative agent societies, societies that are capable of evolving and adapting regulatory systems.
