The objective of the Touring Management System (TMS) is to provide a technological instrument to improve tourism strategy and competitiveness, optimising decision-making for tourism destinations. The project constitutes an innovation in processes which determine the strategic positioning and the capability of a tourism destination to compete, optimising the decision-making processes in tourism.
For that purpose the project proposes to integrate an IT-platform (Touring Machine or TM) to support generic tourism planning and decision-making. Using that platform, the tourism decision makers will count on a system to model and manage tourism destination.
The Touring Machine platform shall enable tourism experts to build a variety of models and simulators of tourism activities. It shall have access to tourism-relevant data of different sorts and it shall integrate multiple modelling tools in order to provide a convenient environment for tourism decision makers to analyse specific questions and visualise new destination management and development alternatives. The protoype TMS will be a tourism market simulator that would allow the dynamic modelling of different types of tourism destinations. It shall be constructed using the Touring MAchine, thus not only requiring the loading into TM of all pertinent data and modelling tools, but demostrating as well the functionality the platform is intended to achieve.
The main goal of the UDT-IA in this project is to give technological support, and in this process we had done:
- A web application to introduce data of interviews.
- Apply some artificial inteligence techniques to obtain useful information.
- Simulate scenarios using agents and electronic institutions.
