Artificial Intelligence

Expert Systems

An expert system is software that attempts to reproduce the performance of one or more human experts, most commonly in a specific problem domain, and is a traditional application and/or subfield of artificial intelligence.

Agents are computer programs that have: autonomy, they chose their course of action without human intervention; proactiveness, they pursue their own goals; and reactiveness, perceive their environment and react to sudden changes on it. We have been working on the social aspects of agents when they interact through dialogues, in the area of automated negotiation.

Trust and Reputation

The research in the area of computational trust and reputation mechanisms for virtual societies is a recent discipline oriented to increase the reliability and performance of electronic communities by introducing in such communities these well known human social control mechanisms.
