Trust Alignment and Adaptation: Two Approaches for Talking about Trust in Multi-Agent Systems

The main IIIA room, the "Auditorium", has been named "Marc Esteva Vivanco". Marc was one of the most brilliant young scientists of the IIIA.

The paper "Distinguished algebraic semantics for t-norm based fuzzy logics: Methods and algebraic equivalencies", by Cintula, P., Esteva, F., Gispert, J., Godo, L., Montagna, F., Noguera, C., is the most cited paper of the journal "Annals of Pure and Applied Logic" since 2007.

Dr. Marc Esteva passed away on December 16, 2011.

This year's festival is dedicated to Artificial Intelligence and Santiago Ontañon will participate in the "Video Games and Audiovisual Production" round table discussion

Ramon Lopez de Mantaras has been selected as the ninth recipient of the AAAI Robert S. Engelmore Memorial Lecture Award, sponsored by IAAI and AI Magazine. The award was presented to him at the opening ceremony of the AAAI/IAAI-2011 in San Francisco. As part of the award, Ramon delivered an invited talk at this year’s AAAI/IAAI Innovative Applications of Artificial Intelligence Conference on August 10 in San Francisco (http://www.aaai.org/Conferences/AAAI/aaai11.php). The premier AI Conference, IJCAI, held from July 18 to July 22 at the CCIB (Barcelona International Conventions Center), has been closed. With 1500 participants has been the most attended of the last 20 years. At the closing ceremony, the President of the IJCAI Trustees publicly recognized the outstanding job of the local organization committee lead by Prof. Carles Sierra.

The video "Using Experience to Generate New Regulations" by Javier Morales (IIIA-CSIC & UB), Maite López-Sánchez (UB), and Marc Esteva (IIIA-CSIC), has received the "Best Artificial Intelligence Video" award at the IJCAI 2011 Conference.

The PhD Theses: "Action Selection in Cooperative Robot Soccer using Case-Based Reasoning" by Raquel Ros, "Ensemble Case-Based Learning for Multi-Agent Systems" by Santi Ontañon, and "Contributions to Record Linkage for Disclosure Risk Assessment" by Jordi Nin, have received the "Outstanding PhD Award" from the Computer Science Department of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). A total of 11 theses, among the 50+ PhD theses defended within the period 2005 to 2008, have received this distinction.
