El Instituto de Investigación en Inteligencia Artificial (IIIA) es un centro dedicado a la investigación en Inteligencia Artificial (IA) perteneciente al Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC). Los temas de investigación son: Sistemas de Aprendizaje, Agentes Inteligentes, Razonamiento Lógico y Búsqueda, Mercados Electrónicos, Robots Autónomos, Música con IA.
Daniel Villatoro's PhD thesis "Social Norms for Self-policing Multi-agent Systems and Virtual Societies" has been awarded the "IFAAMAS-11 Victor Lesser Distinguished Dissertation Award". This thesis has been done at the IIIA under the supervision of Dr. Jordi Sabater

The main IIIA room, the "Auditorium", has been named "Marc Esteva Vivanco". Marc was one of the most brilliant young scientists of the IIIA.
