The Catalonia Institute of Technology is a public university devoted to technical arts and sciences. Several departments work on Artificial Intelligence topics like expert systems, robotics, artificial vision, machine translation, and connectionism.

The Catalonia Supercomputing Center is laboratory set up by the Catalan Foundation for Research (FCR) to serve industries and universities in Catalonia in research and development activities.

The Computer Vision Center is dedicated to research and development of industrial aplications of image processing technologies. The CVC was established by the cooperation of the Catalan Government Research and Technology Agency (CIRIT) and the Computer Science Department of the UAB.

Site of the EUSFLAT, the European Society for Fuzzy Logic and Technology.

The Campus of the Barcelona Autonomous University is where the IIIA is located, together with the CNM (national Center for Microelectronics) and the ICM (Material Science Institute). The Computer Science department conducts research on image processsing and artificial vision (see also the CVC).

The University of Barcelona is the oldest university in Catalonia. Cognitive science, neural nets, and computational linguistics are research topics at several departments.

The Technical University of Valencia develops research in AI on the topics of temporal and non-monotonic reasoning as well as its application to real-time knowledge-based systems.

The Rovira i Virgili University is located between Tarragona and Reus, in the southern region of Catalonia. AI activities are focused toward chemical engineering and robotics applications.
