FishMarket Tournaments FAQ

This section shows some of the most frequently asked questions submitted by some participants

Printing an agent's state
Hello,

I want to know what my agent is doing during a round, using a simple command
like (agent0 uses this) :
System.out.println("My credit : " + myCredit + " and my bid : " + bid);

Unfortunatly, this command has no output device with FM.

Which method or command should we use to have an output ?

Didier

You don't see the output because the agents are automatically spawned by FM as children processes. If you spawn your agent manually, you'll see the output. No problem. There is another option. You can modify the code of your agent to store what you're interested in into a file ( Click here to see Valery's solution). If you don't want to do that, you can also look at the log directory. There you'll find the log file of the interagent used by your agent to participate in the tournament.

When to launch agents manually
I have another problem to launch my agent manually (Received: [deny 16]
Error: I've been sent off). At what time should i launch it (before or after
"Go FM") ?

Don't you have an explicit documentation about the methods ? For example, i
don't know if marketMoney() give all the money of the market (since the
begining
of the market => CONSTANT) or only the money from now till the end.

> I have another problem to launch my agent manually (Received: [deny 16] > Error: I've been sent off). At what time should i launch it (before or after "Go > "FM) ? After Go Fm. Notice that after launching FM, you get a message on the Tournament Pannel announcing that there's a call for buyer participation. > Don't you have an explicit documentation about the methods ? For example, i > don't know if marketMoney() give all the money of the market (since the begining > of the market => CONSTANT) or only the money from now till the end. Oops! You're right. I didn't realize that. I was concerned about documenting the agent template but not the agent library. Ok, that's a good idea.

How is the reserve price calculated?
I want to know how the reserve price is calculated. In the manual, the table
3.1
shows that the reserve price is a factor taken from an uniform distribution
(example haddock : U[0.35, 0.55]). Is the reserve price calculate with this
factor using the starting price or the resale price ?

Didier

Using the starting price.
