The Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (IIIA) is a research center belonging to the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).
Research Topics include: Learning Systems, Intelligent Agents, Logic Reasoning and Search, Electronic Marketplaces, Autonomous Robots, Music with AI.
The IIIA members: Marc Esteva and Javier Morales together with Jordi Campos and Maite López-Sánchez, from the University of Barcelona, have been awarded the "Best Demo Award" at the 10th International Workshop "Engineering Societies in the Agents' World" (ESAW 2009) for their work "An organisational adaptation simulator for P2P networks"
The paper "Distinguished algebraic semantics for t-norm based fuzzy logics: Methods and algebraic equivalencies" by Cintula, P.; Esteva, F.; Gispert, J.; Godo, L.; Montagna, F.; Noguera, C. is number 1 in the "Top 25 Hottest Articles in Annals of Pure and Applied Logic" list for the April-June 2009 period according to ScienceDirect.
The paper "A Case-Based Approach for Coordinated Action Selection in Robot Soccer" by Ros, Arcos, Lopez de Mantaras, and Veloso is number 1 in the "Top 25 Hottest Articles in Artificial Intelligence" list for the April-June 2009 period according to ScienceDirect.
Francesc Esteva has been selected Honorary Member of the European Society for Fuzzy Logic and Technology (EUSFLAT) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to fuzzy and many-valued logics and for his tireless activities to advance the EUSFLAT society as a
co-founder of the society, its first president (1997-2001), and a
faithful long-time member. He is the first member to receive this distinction.
